Spread across 100 acres of Oxfordshire countryside near Great Tew and Chipping Norton, Soho Farmhouse has shaped its own idea of a country escape. Cabins sit beside the water, bicycles replace cars around much of the grounds, and days move easily between the spa, restaurants and outdoor pursuits.

With 114 bedrooms and cabins, several places to eat, extensive wellness facilities and activities ranging from horse riding to clay-pigeon shooting, there is plenty to fill a weekend without leaving the estate.

The Soho House Take on Country Living

Soho Farmhouse neighbours the Cotswolds villages of Great Tew and Chipping Norton, although the experience is largely self-contained. Cars are kept away from the main estate, with bicycles and vintage milk floats used for getting around.

The Farmyard forms the social centre, while accommodation, the lake, wellness facilities and activity spaces extend across the grounds. The atmosphere is deliberately informal, with wellies, timber cabins and open countryside alongside a busy programme of dining, fitness and member events.

Cabins, Cottages and the Farmhouse

For groups, the original Farmhouse is the standout accommodation. Set within its own garden, it sleeps 14 across seven bedrooms and includes a large drawing room, snug, kitchen and dining room, making it particularly well suited to celebrations and longer stays with family or friends.

The Farm Cottage sleeps eight in four bedrooms, with a full kitchen, dining space and living room with a wood-burning stove. An optional bunk house adds two bunk bedrooms for more space. Among the cabins, the two-storey Three-Bedroom Cabin sleeps six and has water views, a spacious living area and freestanding baths in all three bedrooms. The Two-Bedroom Cabin also sits by the water, combining two bedrooms with a large living area and fully equipped kitchen.

Families can opt for the Two Bedroom, One-Bunk Cabin, with two double bedrooms and a separate bunk room, or the One Bedroom, One-Bunk Cabin, arranged across two floors with dedicated sleeping and bathroom space for children.

For couples, the waterside One-Bedroom Cabin is among the most generous choices, with 104 square metres of space, a fully equipped kitchen, dining area, living room and private deck. The split-level Large Studio Cabin has separate sleeping and living areas, while the Farm Hut, Field View includes an outdoor freestanding bath on its private deck.

Other options include the Farm Hut, Garden Room, Garden Cabin and Studio Cabin, many with wood-burning stoves, outdoor baths or private outside space. More compact Piglet cabins provide a simpler base for two, while Farmyard Upstairs and Farmyard Downstairs place guests close to the Main Barn.

Eating Around the Farm

Dining is spread across the estate rather than centred on a single restaurant. The Main Barn serves the House menu throughout the day, including House Regulars and dishes prepared with locally sourced ingredients. Upstairs, Comfy Farm has sofas and an open fireplace, while Fancy Farm provides a more formal setting for lunch or dinner.

Hay Barn at Soho Farmhouse

By the Boathouse, Pen Yen focuses on Japanese izakaya-style cooking, with sushi and sashimi alongside bao buns and dishes from the robata grill. Hay Barn keeps things relaxed with homemade pasta, pizza, fish and meat cooked in its wood oven.

In the Farmyard, Little Berenjak serves Persian-inspired cooking, including Iranian khoresht and kabab. Blake’s Kitchen Bakery is suited to something quicker, with sourdough loaves, cinnamon buns, sausage rolls and other freshly baked options.

The variety works particularly well over a longer stay, allowing breakfast, a casual lunch and dinner to feel quite different without leaving the grounds.

Wellness Around the Lazy Lake

Wellness is a significant part of the Soho Farmhouse experience. The Soho Health Club combines a gym, fitness classes, spa treatments, swimming and more specialised recovery facilities.

The Lazy Lake is its most distinctive feature. Sessions centre on sunken hot tubs with personalised salt soaks and include access to an infrared sauna, steam room and ice room. At the Farmyard spa, treatments include massages and facials using brands such as Cowshed, SkinCeuticals and Omorovicza.

For a more performance-led approach, the Lazy Lab offers treatments and technologies including hyperbaric oxygen therapy, red-light therapy and IV infusions. The wider Soho Health Club has cardio and strength equipment, personal training and signature fitness classes, alongside tennis and padel facilities.

A heated indoor and outdoor pool beside the lake completes the wellness offering, whether the plan is a morning class and swim or several hours around the Lazy Lake.

Country Pursuits and Time Outdoors

Bikes and wellies are provided for exploring the car-free grounds, while horse riding and clay-pigeon shooting make good use of the rural setting. Tennis, padel and boating offer further options.

For quieter hours, the Electric Barn is a dedicated screening room for films. Soho Farmhouse also runs a changing calendar of member events, including workshops, talks and parties.

There is enough variety to shape each day differently without overplanning. A morning on horseback might lead into lunch and a spa session, while a slower day can revolve around cycling, swimming and time by the lake.

Space for Younger Guests

Soho Farmhouse is well equipped for families. The One Bedroom, One-Bunk Cabin and Two Bedroom, One-Bunk Cabin provide dedicated bunk rooms, while the Farm Cottage can be booked with an optional bunk house.

Teeny Camp and Teeny Barn are dedicated children’s spaces, with activities, arts and crafts, indoor and outdoor play and an animal petting area. There is also a Teeny Pool for younger guests, adding to the facilities available for family stays.

Staying at Soho Farmhouse

exploring Soho Farmhouse

Soho House members and Soho Friends can book bedrooms and cabins, with an overnight booking providing access to House amenities for the duration of the stay. Some activities, classes, treatments and wellness experiences require separate reservations.

Given the range of facilities, booking key restaurants, spa sessions and activities ahead leaves the rest of the stay open for more spontaneous plans.

A Country Weekend, Soho House Style

Soho Farmhouse suits those who enjoy the slower pace of a rural break with plenty happening close by. Couples can settle into a waterside cabin and divide their time between the spa, restaurants and countryside. The larger cabins, Farm Cottage and seven-bedroom Farmhouse, are particularly appealing for groups and families.

Dining, wellness, outdoor pursuits and private accommodation all sit within the same 100-acre setting, with enough space to retreat when the busier parts of the Farmhouse feel less appealing. For a Cotswolds stay with a sociable atmosphere and a character of its own, Soho Farmhouse remains a distinctive choice.
